Thank you for the interest in this sculpture.  This is the first piece I made and cast myself in my own foundry/studio, Fahrenheit 2100.

The Bee is made out of cast bronze and the globe was cast in part from recycled aluminum soda cans.  I recycled these empty cans from the patients at a Psychiatric Holding Area in a local hospital's Emergency Department.

Every day I would take care of people with an emergent crisis in their lives.  For some the burden was absolutely crushing...This sculpture is both an expression of the angst, toil and struggle that so many with mental illness face; along with the ironic interdependent role that a healthcare worker can have.  I juxtaposed these ideas with that of Colony Collapse and a lone anthropomorphic bee after the story of  Atlas....
